dual cat headers question

i have a 97 z28 and i was wondering about headers in general..

i'm thinkin of purchasing short tube ceramic coated headers, but i've read and have been told that they r a pain in the neck to take care of..

the bolts r always loosing, and u have to check up on the bolts every few days and re-tighten them...

is this a correct statement? i'm one of thsoe guys that wants a low maintence mod lol..

jus bolt them in once and leave them for life..

any input would be great

Re: dual cat headers question

My friend trashed his header gaskets after the bolts came loose. He switched over to the locking bolts and hasn't had any problems since.

Re: dual cat headers question

the pain about shorties is getting to the bolts. the tubes typically loop up before going down to the collector which can make them a pita to get to. i would personally go with a mid or long tube header.

Re: dual cat headers question

I have SLP shorty headers on mine with standard mr. gasket bolts and some high temperature loctite. No problems with them loosening up
