Dual Cat header opinions and suggestions
Dual Cat header opinions and suggestions
I have a 96 dual cat Z28 and was thinking of headers as my next mod, I live in California so emissions are a factor. I was thinking either the Edelbrock TES headers or the SLP because I believe both of these are emissions "friendly" and have been pretty good choices for many people. I think i can get a pretty good deal on the Edelbrocks so what do you guys think of those. Also do they mate up to the stock y-pipe well? And how much of a gain will i be looking at if i get headers into the stock y pipe and finally through my SLP 2ODL. Thanks.
Another vote for SLP.
They will mate up to your stock "Y" pipe and use your stock cats.
They are emissions friendly, and usually can be found for nearly half the price of new if you check the for sale section often enough. Seems like a set of 96/97 SLP headers pops up for sale about once a month or so. The only reason people get rid of them is to go to long tubes... which isn't an option for you due to emissions testing.
Good luck.

I have got the SLP headers and can say they work great. Had some sealing issues and went with some copper gaskets and it solved the problem. Getting to some plugs does take some work but I modified a spark plug socket and now its a pain, but not a pain in the ***.
I've been hearing a lot of good things about MAC headers as well, anyone have experience with these headers, this one comes as a system though with the y-pipe and cats for like $750, is this system worth it? Thanx for the help.
