DTC P1626 Theft Deterrent System... need help to defeat it.

Ok, here's the situation. I finally go to the point in which I was ready to start the new motor. Fired it up last weekend. Starts and shuts down in a few second. I have a P1626 code for the theft deterrant system fuel enable ckt.

The car has been stripped and the BCM is no longer in the car. I was under the impression that I could defeat this by just turning the VATS off with LT1 edit. I did that and I still have the fault code.

What can I do to overcome this problem? How do I make it run and clear the code with the BCM missing? I have LT1 edit and I am reading the fault with autotap...

AFAIK, turning it off with programming should take care of it.

Thats the thing... I did turn it off and the fault is still active???

I'll go check it again tomorrow. Maybe I didnt turn it off by accident.

I might be wrong but I thought even though the VATs was turned off, the PCM still requires the fuel enable signal.

Check this out.

Thanks for the link... but if you read it, it say only if you have factory programming. That tells me that turning the VATS off in teh PCM should allow the engine to start. I'll check it out again later tonight when I get home from work.

The only thing the computer cares about is that signal, so I thought turning off code reporting should disable the need for it. I believe it has been working for everyone else.

well it is off. The fault still shows in the PCM as an active fault but the engine runs. I reset the PCM and the fault comes right back but it does start and stay running...

a little rough but it was actually running. Hard to tell if its missing or what with ear plugs in
