DTC 65 - oxygen sensor location

My 93 LT1 runs rich. I'm getting DTC 65

Since I'm running headers I had to install oxygen sensors bungs.

I installed one on the driver-side header collector and the right-side one is on the y-pipe.

My question is

is DTC 65 showing since the o2 sensor on the y-pipe is getting exaust from both driver-side exaust and passenger exaust ????

I will relocate it on the passenger header flange in 2 days from now, I'm just curious to know if this is the error that I did.

Exactly WHERE did you mount the O2 sensor in the Y-pipe? What kind of headers are you running - shorties or long tubes? Getting the O2 sensors too far from the engine will cause problems with operating temperatures. Putting one of them in the Y-pipe at the point where the left and right bank exhaust gasses are merged will totally screw up the A/F control of the bank that the O2 sensor is supposed to be controlling.

You are better off putting both sensors as close to the point on the collectors where the 4 runners merge.

that's what I tought, I got shorties and you guessed it right, it's almost where the "y" is made.

I'll relocate that tonight.

thanks
