Post Strange exhaust rattle....

I need your help guys.. I have been hearing a rattle sound for a few weeks under my car and it's really getting on my nerves. I took my car to an exhaust shop and they said that it was my oxygen sensors rattling....

Anyways they said I should just take it to a dealer and they have to replace it for free.. Anybody know what the hell he's talking about?

The noise sounds just like a cutout cap that's not on tight. And yes I my cutout is on very tight and anyways it's coming from the front part of the car. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

My old Maxima had a loose heat shield on the catalytic converter that rattled sort of like you're describing. I put a little RTV where the weld had broken loose...it was still there when I sold the car 3 years later.

It does seem a lot like the problem I had on my '97 Camaro... they had to replace the cat because it was making a rattle inside. Good luck.

when I had my MAC headers with catalytic y-pipe installed the heatshields on the floorboard were rattling on the cats so they removed the heatshields from the Cats and the floorboards and most of the rattling went away. One of the cats still makes a little rattle on the body but I need to go have it fixed one last time.

Cool

Ive got the same rattle, and its pretty bad. i think it may be on the top of the o2 sensors, theres a ring that holds the wire loom on the sensor. they spin and i think i might just try some epoxy or aluminum tape for the cure. im going to do it this weekend if it doesnt rain, so ill let you know.
