Dtc 45
Dtc 45
Car running really rough like on 6 cylinders, right bank headers, cylinders 4,6and 8 running cherry red. Has been raining buckets so my question is with all the rain would this cause this condition. Parked the car in garage for 2 days and now car runs fine and the milavolts on the left side are moving up and down where as before they were stuck at 1081.
Post is very confusing.....
First you say "Car running really rough like on 6 cylinders, right bank headers, "..... then you indicate "now car runs fine"?????
Do you mean a few days ago the O2 sensor millivolts were reading over 1000, and AT THAT TIME the engine was running poorly, and then 2 days later, the O2 sensor readings returned to normal (cycling from 0xx-9xx millivolts), and the engine is running normal?
If so, its possible the wet weather shorted out the O2 sensor wiring, cause a voltage leak from the heater circuits to the sensor wire, causing the sensor voltage to reach the limit that the PCM can display. With 1,000+ mV readings, the PCM started pulling out massive amounts of fuel, and the engine was running excessively lean, causing the headers to glow.
If that rain did cause that problem, you need to check the harness, and the sensors, because the wiring and harness connectors should be sealled well enough to prevent that problem. Could be the extensions, since you have long tubes.
DTC 45 = Bank 1 (left) Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Circuit (rich exhaust indicated).

Injuneer sorry about the confusion but you hit it on the head. Car was running poorly and DTC 45 was set. I am a bit confused by the right side running lean when the code says it's the left side running rich.
What was the right side O2 sensor indicating, when the left side was at 1,000+ mV?
I was going to suggest you had a clogged cat problem, but when it cleared itself up, that would appear not to be the problem. I also doubt you have a cat
