I just got a ls1 alu drive shaft and I was wondering if the metal peace between the two clips on the rear u-joint should be there or if it is something to be removed when installed... hope you know what I mean...

Not too sure what you mean...I just bolted mine up in place of the steel one...no leftover parts or anything.

 

You know where you take away the 4 bolts on the rear u joint to put the new one in.....on the ds where you put the bracket over and put the 2 bolts in...between those to parts, the part of the ds rear u-joint where the two clips are there's a rectangular peace of metal that fits whit its ends in between the space where the clips are.....seems to hold it together or something, maybe it's some cind of transportation cover or something....hard to explain without a picture...
