dropping motor help immediatly.
need help dropping my motor. i have all the stuff disconnected and the motor is just hanging in the engine bay on a cherry picker. my k member is loose and all i need to do is remove the bolts and its off. do i need to do something with my springs and suspension. please help and give me directions on the easiest way to drop that damn motor. oil pan and crank is already out. i spun a rod bearing.
There are two ways to do this:
1. Remove the tops of the coil-overs from the chassis, this requires removing the brake master cylinder to get that one bolt out for the driver side.
2. Remove the bottoms of the coil overs at the control arms and pop the upper ball-joint loose.
I prefer option 2.

ok well i pulled my motor from the top instead of dropping it out the bottom. everyone said that it is impossible but i didnt think so and obviously its not. so if anybody has questions feel free to ask. **** dropping the k member and removing coil overs. i thought that was dumb but oh well i figured it out, so can you.
With the transmission unbolted, a "happy hooker" lift plate, and a long boom, 4 ton cherry picker, mine came out and went back in with absolutely no problems. I dare say it was actually pretty easy. The main key was turning the engine at about a 45* angle to get it to clear the core support. BTW, it also went back in with the intake, electric water pump, and balancer attatched.

yeah i had my hood off but evereything else was still attached and yeah your right that 45* angle definatly helps. a little twisting and turing and tugging will get her done. It actually came out a whole lot easier than i thought it would. will it go back in just as easy? thats my question. thanks for the replies guys. keep it up.

I didn't have to remove the master when I changed my front shocks
