There are two ways to do this:
1. Remove the tops of the coil-overs from the chassis, this requires removing the brake master cylinder to get that one bolt out for the driver side.

2. Remove the bottoms of the coil overs at the control arms and pop the upper ball-joint loose.

I prefer option 2.

ok well i pulled my motor from the top instead of dropping it out the bottom. everyone said that it is impossible but i didnt think so and obviously its not. so if anybody has questions feel free to ask. **** dropping the k member and removing coil overs. i thought that was dumb but oh well i figured it out, so can you.

With the transmission unbolted, a "happy hooker" lift plate, and a long boom, 4 ton cherry picker, mine came out and went back in with absolutely no problems. I dare say it was actually pretty easy. The main key was turning the engine at about a 45* angle to get it to clear the core support. BTW, it also went back in with the intake, electric water pump, and balancer attatched.

Yup. We never took the hood off mine, either.

yeah i had my hood off but evereything else was still attached and yeah your right that 45* angle definatly helps. a little twisting and turing and tugging will get her done. It actually came out a whole lot easier than i thought it would. will it go back in just as easy? thats my question. thanks for the replies guys. keep it up.

Mine went back in extremely easy, also. I just had 2 buddies watch and guide it, while I lowered it in. I was working with a freshly painted engine bay, so I was even extra careful.

I've done this both ways, I think it's easier from the bottom.. Of course, you do need to go get re-aligned when you are done.

I don't know who said it couldn't be done out the top. A lot of people do it that way. I went out the bottom. Did it by myself. Left the wheels on and just rolled it out with a floor jack under the transmission. I thought it was pretty easy.
