Dropped the engine tonight

It went well, but I was tired as h*ll. Started work @ 6:30 and went right into the car @ 4:30 when I got home. stopped at 9:45 whew

Unhooked most everything except for the belhousing, water pump and a few vaccum line

Just have to lift the engine off the K member and drop it at the engine shop, then we are on vacation for 2 weeks

Are you taking it out from the top? I would of figured through the bottom is easier. Hmm...

What plans do you have for your project?

Seems 383's with 12:1 SCR and a 150-200hp shot are the becoming the norm around here. What is your combo going to consist of?

I heard it was easier to drop the k-member and engine and tranny all at the same time. That way you can put a jack under the tranny and roll the whole assembly away on the k-memeber and wheels. Am I wrong? Mabey I'm thinkin of an LS1.

That's exactly how I did mine.
Just don't forget to unhook the slave cylinder or you'll be buying a new one.
Ask me how I know.

Re: Dropped the engine tonight

We dropped off the engine tonight, and we are off for two weeks vacation.

When we were there, he just had a pair of 572 cu marine engines and another pair of 800 hp supercharged bbc marine engines that were dropped off.

He asked us what we want to do

So we'll think about it. 1st we have to see what's wrong with the engine, and get a magnuflux on our assy etc etc.

I usually like a fairly bullet proof over built engine, designed around the cam, and hp.

Broke too many parts to be cheap where it counts, we'll know in two weeks where our baseline is

Re: Dropped the engine tonight

Did you take off the brake calipers? Seems like if you removed them from the rotors and hung them with some wire it would save from having to bleed the system when everything is back together. If you did take off the calipers, what do you use to cap the brake lines to keep all the fluid from running out of the system?
