Driving with air filter off...

How bad can that be? I just checked mine (I periodicaly do) and it fell of. It's a K&N cai btw. I know their kind of prone to comming off. But I don't know how long mine has been off for. I used to check it religously but it was never loose or anything so I kind stopped.

It's winter so it hasn't seen much driving time so I'm not too worried. And it hasn't been out in the rain or anything. Only thing I'm kinda worried about is all the salt in the air that might have got in Should I be worried? Thanks

It's not bad until a rock or something gets sucked into the intake and then kaboom. No way would I ever drive without an air filter.

Mine did the same damn thing, don't think it will hurt anything. I did however rough up the place on the end of the CAI with some very coarse sandpaper (60 grit) and that helped. At least I think it's still on there

Your car should be alright. Just get one on there ASAP.

Thanks guys... I got it back on and it should be on for good now. Cleaned the filter while I was at it. It's -5*C right now so it was like summer for me! lol! It's been around -25 here for the past 3 weeks.

Funny thing about the rock being sucked in... when I pulled down my splash gaurd to get at the filter... a rock about 1 inch in diameter fell out as well! How on earth it got in there is just beyond me!

Anyway.. thanks guys. She's now lubed and ready to suck

You will suck more dust up with it out........
May be a good idea to check your throttle body for build up.

It's not a big deal though.

i just decided to cut the tubular section off of the bracket that holds the main tube of the k&n itself. with it all flat and level it stays on there with no problem.
