Driver's side door removal in a '93
Driver's side door removal in a '93
I have just purchased a 1993 and the power door lock and the driver's window buttons no longer operate on the driver's side (the passanger window buttons both work fine). As the AC needs to be repaired, having 2 operable windows for "2-60 cooling" would be nice. Scouring the web for help points me towards a bad window motor and/or the express down module under the dash. I have purchased another door for a whopping $20 (same color and everything works in it) as I thought this was a better deal than messing with drilling out the old motor, etc. and buying a new/used switch (the button for the driver's window has actually broken off). My question is how do I remove the old door and assocaited wiring? Do I need to remove the door panel and disconnect the electrical wiring and pull it back through the door by where it hinges to the frame, or is there a disconnect under the hood that i can undo and pull the wiring out as I remove the door?
Your help and advice is greatly appreciated!

Re: Driver's side door removal in a '93
your going to have to remove door panel first and disconnet the wriing by pulling the clear plastic off, its held on by some black tacky stuff i forget what its called. Anyways you'll have to remove wiring and then the bolts on the hinge. Its easiest to door with 2 people when you go to put it back on but i suggest taking out the switch from the door panel first since you have to do that anyways to take the door panel off and swap it with the old one see if that works. Also maybe you should just take the window motor out of the old door and put it in the current door. Only reason i say this is because the window motors get weak but one you have the holes drilled out for the motors theyre not that bad to replace and sometimes even though the doors are the same color they look funky o to paint not matching and such, also lining the door up right is a bitch by yourself my passenger door still isn't quite lined up right. Try the simple things first though. Hope this helps
