Drive shaft question? Anyone know of AAM American axle manufacturing..????????
IMy car has a slight vibration and I though it might be the driveshaft since thats so common these cars. Anyways I went to look at my driveshaft and it looks stock except has a sticker on it that says:
AAM American Axle Manufacturing Three Rivers
I did a pretty extensive search on google and found that my driveshaft is from the AAM three rivers plant...anyways.....Is this a stock driveshaft? or a aftermarket replacement...? I've found info on the internet but it could still be a sub contracted OEM peace? I'am unknown

American Axle was once a division of GM that became independent, along with a bunch of others like Harrison Radiator, etc. GM is still their main customer, AFAIK. So, it's an out sourced OEM piece.

So are all the drivelines that have these "vibration problems" are they all AAM's products? My car seems to have the vibration problem, but it dosent seem to get worse with higher speeds, seems about the same, worst at around 65. I've been going down a hill before and turned off the motor, and it made absolutely no change at all, felt no different. So i'am sure its something w/the drivetrain. What else could it be? Does the "Vibration driveshaft problem" always get worse with speed?
An american axle division is in buffalo and Im assuming the one your talking about is located in or around pittsburgh.
A replacement would be a 1LE or LS1. Also Denny's driveshaft would be a good option.

Is there anyway to isolate it so that i know it is my driveshaft that is causing the problem?
Could alignment or anything do this? I recently had 4 new tires put on(Firestone SZ50 ep's) and balanced them all. And the problem was still there.

how much and where did you get the 1LE? I assume GM? What was the part # and the price? Also, is the LS1 driveshaft better or cheaper, is it just as good?
