Drag Racing Build! Help!

I need help building my car!

What I'm looking for: 530-600hp (pump gas) 750h-800hp with Nos and good gas!
Budget: 20k-35k
Plans: 383 Stroker and 6l80E tranny (Already have the transmission and Controller) "The transmission is going to be Upgraded to handle the power"!
I want it to be street friendly and be able to drive it 90 miles on the street to reach The Track! I want that Street car Status!
Looking for low 7's in the 1/8! On stock suspension!
The car is a 1996 Z28 auto!

I don't want to LSX swap it, But If I run into a lot of problems I'll consider buying a 2002 z06 or a 2002 WS6!
Not going to Daily drive it mostly track Focus!
I'll be doing Drag racing 1/8 - 1/4 and Roll racing!
Currently the car only haves a LT4 hot cam and Bolts on!

I'll accept recommendations or critics!

I assume you're talking about rear wheel horsepower...

With those goals and a decent budget, you might want to find an experienced engine builder in your area. Someone that can tune what's built or has a relationship to a good tuner.

Just so you know, a 600 rear wheel horsepower car, on the street, is a real handful. A friend of mine had a 598 rwhp C6 Z06 and it was ferocious. (He recently traded it for a C7 Z06 with the LT4 supercharged engine..650 ponies from the factory.)

There is a Shop near my Town that will do all the work and Tune! Right now I'm making research about the Machine shop!

Here in Puerto Rico there are some fast LT1's and some of them Running in the 1/8 7.0's I'll like to see low 7's or even High 6's! It sounds kinda selfish! But that's my Goal!

I sold some of my cars and want to try this "Racing Stuff" I need recommendations on good parts! I was making some research and apparently Eagle Cranks are not Good!
I want a engine to be able to handle 900+hp on Nos, Capable of 1000hp or near. But I won't be touching those Numbers!! Just to be Secure!!

I'll like to see 600rwhp NA and 800+Rwhp on Juice!

Re: Drag Racing Build! Help!

Build it for ET not dyno numbers. A dyno is just tool. Low 7's in the 1/8th is only low 11's in the 1/4. A true 800+ RWHP is low 9's in a 3,400 pound car. My son has a C6 Z06 with 606RWHP. My car put down 530RWHP on the same dyno and it weighs more. I've raced him from a roll numerous times to give him the advantage. It has never ended well for him.

On a 150 shot my car made 683RWHP and ran 9.71 in the 1/4.

My son's C6 Z06

My turd on the dyno

On the same 150 shot making a 9.71 pass

Re: Drag Racing Build! Help!

600 at the rear wheels through an auto trans is 700-725 HP at the flywheel, normally aspirated. With the heads, cam and RPM required to make that kind of power, not likely to be "street friendly". Can be done.... I think N2ODave got into the 700's with converted SB2.2 heads. Find someone who has won the Engine Masters Challenge to build your engine.

George Baxter ran 9.05 (= ~5.82 1/8th) in a 4,000# 30th SS convertible, with 900 rwHP (1,125 at the flywheel through a TH400). That was 16 years ago. You shouldn't need anywhere near your HP goals to run a 6.9 1/8th (=~10.8 1/4). There are guys running that fast on straight motor, nowhere near 800 at the rear wheels.
