Double roller chain with NON-vented opti?

This may be a stupid question but I figure I'd ask before I pony up the dough for a cloyes. Is a double roller timing chain compatible with the old style optispark? Cover and all?

Thanx, Rob

No...clearance issues on the 94 timing cover. You'd have to move to a 95 T.C to use the dbl roller chain, which means you would have to go with an upgrade to a vented opti setup.
If you are looking for a heavy duty chain on a 94 you may be stuck with the GM extreme duty chain.

I don't know about clearance issues, but the double roller cam gear has no provision to drive the splined opti that the non-vented has. The LT4 ED won't work, either, unless you convert to vented.

you allso have to go with an el. wp. if you go with the double roller timing chain.Go with the cloyes. I used Cmotorsports and had to grind a crap load off my cover. plus it was cheap looking and made in china The cloyes is alot stroger looking too.

I have the Meziere but before I install it I was thinking to put a new chain.

Do you think I can leave the old water pump gear sticking out or do I need to knock it out?

if you go with a double roller you have to pull it out. if you just want to put on the el. wp you have to pull off the pipe looking coupler. and plug up the back of the wp.. and that is it.
