Dont own a camaro but do have a lt1 engine question

***Has been posted on impalassforum.com with no answers or anyone with the same problem***
Since i bought my caprice i have been having a problem with while driving in the rain and i hit a puddle that is deep enough to splash my engine my car stalls out and it takes about 20-30 minutes to get it to restart"Im guessing something has to dry off". This even happens while going down the highway so its getting dangerous and becoming a nuisance. I have replaced the opti, spark plugs, wires, fuel pump, fuel sending unit, and several other parts with no luck. Has anyone experienced this problem or might have a suggestion to what the problem might be. I had the spark plugs and wires changed before my opti burned out so i do need to change them again as a bad opti can damage plugs. Any suggestions?

Here is a pic of my car by the way, i recently had the car lowered 2 inches so i know that doesnt help with the problem.

what kind of air induction are you running? Is it close to the ground?
I'm just wondering if your engine is ingesting water. Any codes?
A detailed list of mods would help.

Get a spray bottle filled with water and start squirting stuff until it shuts off.

This could be oversimplified, but i would look for anything loose, the water could knock off anything that wasnt on very tight. check to make sure u dont have a big vaccum leak, but also water in the fuel system would stall the engine.

engine is stock right now, i just finished with the exterior now im working on the engine as we speak. Other than that new starter(75 miles old), new aux bat cable(5000 miles old), new opti( 4 months ago), new plugs and wires(when i first got the car), Did not replace the opti vaccum harness when i put in a new opti. Everything has been done within the last 5,000 miles when i bout the car about a year ago. Yes i am getting a code but i cant find anyone with a obd1 scanner in the small town i live in. Check engine light popped up after i changed my opti.

How is the weatherpak seal at the top of the opti??

Wonder if water gets into the opti there than as it drains and dries the car restarts. This could happen with ANY distributor.

Sounds to me like the air filter is getting water in it.
