Doing a TB bypass and noticed something like oil, and hose broke..

...ok I thought I was doing the TB Bypass the right way. I removed the bottom left hose no problem. But then I went to pull on this hose and it cracked right off!! It's a clean break. I can tape it to death and I'm sure it will work for now, but was this the hose that was supposed to come of for the bypass?:

http://camaropics.50megs.com/tbpage.html The portion left on the TB has the letters "TBU" on it in case it's hard to notice.

Now I had taken off the TB plate to touch it up, and I notice that when I lifted the plate, the TB had a very light coating of what looked to be oil. Like if I had put some on my finger and rubbed it on. It was a little brownish and definately oily. There was some right by my air foil also and just a spot on the TB blade.

I think since I have the SLP cai, that the last time I charged the filters I know I put ALOT of oil on them, I think this is what it is. Plus I have a descreened MAF.

So was that the right hose? Because that hose I know goes to the valve cover but it to had oil in it, just a few drops. Are there any pics of the TB bypass somewhere around here?

Let me know what you think about the oil and hose, where can I get a new hose? Besides the Dealer of course.

Thanks

you took off the wrong hose. that hose that you broke is the pcv hose. goes from top of valve cover to side of throttle body.

look at this site. thank shoebox.

That hose is the crank vent hose. I think dealer is about it for source. You could tape it up temp. then order one from one of the wholesalers here for far less than a normal dealer. I think that hose is about $22 from a dealer???
Over oiling the filter is not good mainly if you went crazy. just clean it up and you might consider cleaning the MAF with electrical cleaner. It is very delicate so be careful.
The oil may be also from the breather tube you broke. I have seen oil in the higher mileage TS's in the area you are discribing. The top plate on the TB can be removes as well. Getting a gasket for it sometimes is a bit**.

hope that helps.

The oil is coming from the valvecover. Everyone has it and it all gets into the TB. It kind of sucks, i know. There will be some oil in that hose and in your TB. I would just shorten the hose you broke and stick it back on the TB. There should be 3 hoses on the Pass side TB. The small plastic one with a 90 degree rubber elbow then the Valve cover one, and on the very bottom of the TB there will be the coolant tube. This Ebay auction right here gives a great picture of the underside of a TB. In the first picture you can see the two tubes that are for the coolant to run through.
