Is there another bolt hole on the pass. rear side in the head for headers?

I have the stock manifolds... I've been having an exhaust leak for a while and I checked it today... What I thought to be a loose bolt turned out to be a broken one... Somehow the rear passenger exhaust manifold bolt had snapped off flush with the head... The only way I'm going to get that out is to remove the head... I've read some posts that there are extra bolt holes in the cylinder head... Anyone know if there's an extra one for the rear passenger side?

There are two holes in the back of each of the heads. I guess if you have the manifold or header off, you could have someone weld something to it and drill it and use the other hole.

I dunno!

dont laugh but i had something like this happen before.what i did was i used a small bolt a little smaller in diameter than the snapped bolt i held it in the center of the broken bolt and tacked it on with my welder then i took my little 10mm wrench and removed the broken bolt.it took 2 tries but it worked for me,if you have enough clearance try it.

In aluminum, I wouldnt try the above. I could be wrong, but it seems that welding bolts on a aluminum head might seize the bolt for good, and cause bigger problems in the future.

I had the same problem when I was putting on headers . On my 96 the exhaust manifold used the hole closest to the firewall I thought I was going to have to pull the head. I did not realize there was another hole in the head and I am still not sure why it's their. But my SLP headers used the other hole and man was I happy.

I see a reason to do headers. One way or another you are gonna have to yank the manifold to fix this so i would just do headers.

Why not just try an easy out first? Its worth a try.

Because for that to work he had to be able to get a drill in there to drill a hole in the bolt. That is an almost impossible task. If you want to keep stock manifolds i would try welding a smaller bolt on to the old bolt and unscrew it. The problem is you will have to remove the stock manifold and you will probably end up breaking all the studs off of that for the y-pipe and you will have to replace them. Thats a lot of work when you could just slap some headers on.

I could do it with a 90* drill but i guess it all depends on what tools you have to work with. Anyway good luck with which ever route you choose to go.
