Doing the LT1 carb conversion was the best thing I ever did for my car.

I thought another reason was enhanced engine durability. Isn't that one of the more common reasons given by GM for the change?

Also I would still like to see detailed pics with a description of how everything was done for this conversion. Not that I'd do it, I'm just curious is all.

The book rebuilding the LT1/LT4 has a detailed description of the conversion procedure if your interested. Basically you just get the right intake to match the runner config of the Gen II SB and pop in a distributor and plug the opti hole. Course you can't do it without pulling the engine. And if you ever need to pull your distributor you'll have to yank the engine.

No more opti, no more computer tuning.

I don't think I personally could do the carb swap. It was mentioned "no more computer tuning"...once it's tuned it's tuned...I would hate having to tweak a carb for different elevation or temperatures, etc...that's what I personally like most about fuel injection...and the gas mileage. Just my humble 2 cents. I do however...think it's cool that people have done this....like the guy with the roots style supercharger...same ****.

I think if that's what one person wants to do with their car, cool. Why not? I'd love to see some pics if possible.

With all these new emissions rules it's making it harder and harder for us to enjoy fast cars and be able to work on our own cars. For this reason alone I may have to move back to a first or second gen car just to be able to throw whatever motor combo I want in my own car. Sad, very sad.

FireAm94, do you know who has the blower on their LT-1? Someone was asking me about doing that this morning and I didn't know of anyone that has done that.

Thanks a lot. I did a search and his ID is ROOSTER93V8. I'll sort through his posts and find out how he did it
