check your belt. I have a friend with a 96 Impala SS and everytime he does doughnuts he always has the belt slip off, thats what is causing you to have no power steering.

To Bleed ( GET ANY AIR OUT ) the power steering ...

1~Warm the Engine up
2~Jack the front of the car up
3~Get on Jackstands
4~Cut the steering wheel ALL the way to lock in both directions about 20 times.
5~Check fluid level, Add if nesicary
6~With the cap off, see if the fluid is foaming

If Foaming
7~Cut the wheel all the way one way and all the way back again untill there is NO more foam/bubbles in the pwr steering fluid.

My dads Truck got F'ed up and starting doing that, his steering would go out after a left then immediate right, turns out it was just a air pocket in his steering ...

I did the same thing once in my old 2000 Firebird. It was under warrenty and I went in to the dealership and yelled at them, saying bull**** like I could have died. And they fixed it under the warrenty. All it was, was the power steering pump broke.

OK I didnt read the other posts if someone already said this but here it goes. Im willign to put money down that you blow your water pump. The coolant splashes around causing your power steering not to work. when my water pump went thats exactly what happened.

heres another tip: if your pump is as ****ed as mine, take tension off of the idler pully, take off belt. Pull on the PS pump pulley. If it comes out, its ****ed

NOTE: I lost ANOTHER belt. This is my 3rd one bought

I don't think it is the waterpump because that is brand new. I'm gonna try the bleeding of the pump tonight or tomarrow.

I forgot the precdure, but they had to do that on my wifes 97 firebird when they replaced the line from the pump to the reservoir.

The simple G forces from winging around like that could have picked up some air in the system. Definitely bleed it before you go any further.

Ok heres my end of the story, i like the jackass i am broke my powersteering shaft that connected to the pulley from doing doughnuts on blackice, i also spilt a ton of fluid on the belt but when i looked at the pulley it was shoved out muchhh further then the other pulleys and harmonic balancer an nothing was aligned, pulled it apart and the shaft was destroyed, got a new pump outta a totaled camaro for $25 with 19,xxx on it....for that price i got lucky and got a new part with tons of less miles then the rest of the car....but its $25 i coulda spent on some gas

As I see it, the front of the car is not really moving that much, the back is. (I guess it depends on what is on the video, )

There is also a bleed procedure on my Tech Page.
