Does the old magnaflow muffler flow better?

On my 93 car I put a magnaflow catback on about a year ago. It was the design which had the passengers side tip coming off the same side of the muffler that the exhaust entered from. I noticed the new design which looks like this: http://www.tbyrnemotorsports.com/ls1...flowdetail.jpg

Now has it where the other tip for hte passenger side is on the same side as the other one. Which one is better?

Did the old one look something like this?

---axle----||
...............//
....(Muffler)
.//............\\
||...<tips>..||

If so, Id think this old setup would flow better because there isnt the need for a U-bend and all the extra tubing for the passenger-side tip. Unless.. maybe the new muffler (with the two coming out on one side) flows exceptionally better and makes up for the excess tubing added to the passenger tip

the old one just turns the exhaust around inside were the new turns it around outside. On the new one the turn is not as sudden as the old u turn style.

Re: Does the old magnaflow muffler flow better?

Are the new ones significantly quieter? I've heard comments about "quiet magnaflows" around here lately and mine is certainly not quiet (old style). It's interesting to note that the exhaust sound is much more pronounced coming out of the passenger side exit. As I understand it the design w/ the old setups is such that it just goes right into the muffler and has baffles to turn it right back out the passenger side, resulting in very little restriction...

Anyone ever heard both types?

I have the old style and there is nothing quiet about it when I step on it and the majority of the exhaust is out the pass. side. Wouldn't change a thing though...sounds awesome!
