Does anyone make good rings in the stock LT1 size?
Re: Does anyone make good rings in the stock LT1 size?
You may be able to use a standard 1/16 1/16 3/16 ring set in stock pistons. But before doing this I would call a ring manufacturer and verify this. Or, you could install a set on one piston and measure the side clearance which should be 0.002-.005". Of course, there is nothing wrong with the stock rings.

Your prolly not gonna get a better answer than from the Doc. I'm a big fan of Total seal rings. I'm building a forged DOHC 4.6 and am using them.

FWIW, I just got off the phone with Federal Mogul (Sealed Power) tech line.
They said that you can NOT use the 1/16, 1/16,3/16" on a stock LT1 Piston.
For the life of me, I can not find a stock replacement 2mm/1.5mm/4mm ring that does not have a Moly top ring.
It seems like GM is the only place, and even at a great Jason Cromer price, it comes out to $40 a hole (X8)= $320
I just went with moly on these. Also the correct Sealed power # for a 4.00 bore in the correct size, is
E350K

I had moly rings put in my factory stock lt-1 pistons. Part number from my machine shop bill "HAS2M 4626"
Do some searching for those. They were seated nicely when I took my motor apart at about 800 miles for a bearing failure.
