You're not telling us any details about your car at all. (and your sig says you don't own an f-body
)
You might get away with it for a little while if you have a 6 speed, but your car won't idle at all if you have an automatic.

i own a 99 chevy s10 which i will be swapping a LT1/4l60E into it sometime next year. I have an appointment tomorrow with my mechanic and i need to tell him whats going on with everything.
Yes you will definitly want to get ur computer reprogramed after you put a cam in it, especially the 230/236. Some people have gotten away without tuning with the Hotcam, but thats a small cam. If you want the most out of the cam, then tune your car. Since you're from IL if you don't mind the drive, I would come out to Schaumburg to Speed Inc. and have them dyno tune your car when it's all done. BVPerformance also does a great job with tuning and both places will cost about $300-$400 depending on the tune.
I'm not a huge fan of mail order tuning...My buddy(WheelmanZ28) had BVPerformance tune his car and then switched to PCMforless, and his car ran far better with BV's tuning.
