do i need the LT4 KM?

shorty headers , no cat, wide open borla are the mods. My car is running really rich causing the headers to glow, and I can smell all the unburnt fuel. Also, it has power loss on exceleration. I used my DriveRight CarChip to record some data, and I have up to 30 degrees of timing retard around 2k rpms while it stays around 20 degrees during idle. Would the LT4 KM fix that or is there prolly something else wrong with my car?

usually it's sounds from a noisey valve train that gives false knock. but if your exhaust is loose you can get it from there too. and, make sure you're using premium fuel. if these are fine try the KM.

old but update-just replaced the km with an lt4 unit, and im still getting around 27 degrees of retard at idle. the gas has been in the tank 'unused' since december, so i'll prolly fill her up with some fresh gas and some seafoam in there to see if that helps..hopefully

I thought headers glowing was from running real lean..? Can the same thing happen for when your running rich to?

Yes running rich CAN cause the headers to glow too.
