Are the rockers self-aligning? If they are not, you need guideplates to stabilize the valve train.

self align rockers you don't need them

with a non self aligning you will need them and will need the correct ones.

What rockers are you going to use?

proform cheapies summit website said they were self aligning and the paper that came with them says they are not for use with heads that have selfaligning rocker arms

It appears that you have a choice to make. You may decide to ask for a refund from Summit based on the fact that the product was misrepresented or you might well decide to locate a set of guide plates that are designed for an LT1 head.

Isky adjustable guide plates have worked well for me and I've seen reference to another brand that will work as well. There have been reports of problems with the guide plates marketed by GM in the past.

Good luck.
