Do i have to use a Canton Oil pan with the 396?

Do i have to use a Canton Oil pan with the 396?

There is no way a stock pan will work with a 396 stroker i must buy a aftermarket pan like Canton, Moroso etc..

Canton is good.

www.nu-tekmotorsports.com sells the modified ones that will clear long tube headers.

The longer stroke of the 396 will require an aftermarket pan.

You can bang out the stock pan for 383s but for 396s I would go with a Canton.

oil pan

it depends on what oil pump you use a high volume pump will suck a stock pan dry and on hard acceleration you can uncover the pick i used a canton on my 383 it has two baffles that keep the pick up covered and it is clearenced for the longer stroke

Yeah you should. I couldnt get clearance for my 383 with H-beams. Someguys said to massage the pan and take out the windage tray. Forget it. I got the Canton from Nu-Tek and he pushed down the scraper for me. Its a beautiful pan and fit perfect. It actually fit better than the stock pan. No adjustments what so ever.
