Do fuel pressure regulators rarely go bad?

Okay my fuel pump is 1 breath short of death. Hopefully it will crank 1 last time to make it to my mechanics house. Anyway I plan on having him replace ALOT of parts on the Z. I seen in summit a Aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I'm just wondering if this is worth buying. My Z has 171,000 miles on it Thanks

IMO, a AFPR is not needed unless you have substantial mods to the fuel system to support high horsepower.
