4th Gen: 4.75" = 120.65mm
BMW: 120mm

120.65 - 120 = 0.65" mismatch on bolt circle.

0.65mm = 0.0256" error on bolt circle

= 0.0256" / 2 = 0.0128" error on the centering of each conical lug nut.

If one nut centers when it is tightened, the error on the opposite side will approach the full 0.0256", and the wheel will be off center by that amount. Most likely this is what happens, since people tend to seat one nut fully before moving to the one opposite.

I would check the lugnuts for looseness VERY frequently in this case. Not sure how you would even torque the lugnuts to prevent off-center wheel location and full offset being applied to only a couple studs.

Thanks for the feedback. I am changing my wheels real soon. Looking for something made specifically for our cars. Something in the 200 or less range. I doubt I can find 18x9.5 for that amount,but I'm hoping.

You can talk theory all you want....that little bit of difference might not matter to 90% of people....but i'm not taking a chance on being a 10%'er.

I work at a Jaguar dealer and one day when i had my car in the shop with the wheels off I put an XJ8 wheel on my car and it fit perfectly. the XK and XJ series jags have the same wheel bolt pattern as our cars. the only downside is the tend to stick out too far.

Next time I have my car in the shop I'll put a set on and post pics
