Question Distributor Installing Question

Had the optispark go bad in my 95 formula and I am now looking to install a new one. Took the old one out but I am not sure where the rotor lined up at in order to install the new one and I was told it needs to be in the same spot or else it will not run. Is there anyway to tell where it needs to be at in order to install it? The harmonic damp pulley is still in the same position as when removed (one down, two up). I need to know if there is a way to tell what position the rotor in the opti should be in. I don't want to install it in the wrong position in fear of messing up the timing or worse.

Thanks for any help.

By the way, start it up for like 5-10 seconds before you but the waterpump and crank pulley back, make sure it runs right and you gotta in on right, My dumbass friend just did his yesterday and installed it wrong and called me up and asked me why it was idling at 500 rpms(very roughly) and wouldn't rev up when he hit the gas, turns out the thing was in the wrong position and I had to help him tear it all down again.
