Distributor
It can be done... but why? The opti is much more accurate for all it's woes. Plus, have you looked at where a distributor would sit? Not fun if you have to take it out. Also, you'll need some way to get a low res signal if you still want to run the car in sequential mode, otherwise it'll have to be run in batch fire mode.
Am tired of messing with opti. Using accel gen7, so I will not have a problem running in sequential mode. Was thinking about using a PRO-BILLET FRONT DRIVE DISTRIBUTOR, it is belt driven.
Or.... you could use the optical signals from your Opti to feed crank and cam position to your Gen 7, add an eDIS and run 8 LS1 coils in direct fire mode, and run your system in full sequential. Might outperform a mechanical distributor. An aftermarket ECU generaly gives you total control over fuel and ignition. By going to a mechanical distributor, you are throwing away 1/2 of the capabilities of the Gen 7.
8 LS1 coils in direct fire, using Opti + MoTeC
Just a thought.

blah blah blah blah blaaaaah bla bla.....Thats all my brain heard when I was reading Freds post, that stuff is way over my head.....just one question....is this a very worth while conversion over the opti performance wise, or is it just something cool to get rid of the opti? And Im guessing it is an expensive conversion as well huh? Thats all I want to know. Thanks.
