dist. cap change please reply!!!

Guys, can the dist. cap and rotor cap be changed on a 94 z28 without pulling the water pump. today, I cranked up may car and it idled rough and rpm would go up and down when i turned on the heater. it even died one time. drove down the road and smoothed up some, seemed more i drove it smother it ran. temp was very warm (half way on gauge) as i took off it farted back through the mufflers a couple of times and would miss then eventually level off. only mods is a k and n fresh air system. 65,000 miles original ignition system and plugs changed on 30,000 miles please reply.

Either way, your waterpump needs to come off. I'd recommend changing the entire opti, because only a few people have had a whole lot of luck just by changing the cap and rotor.

What he said. There are a few bolts that sit behind the water pump you can't get to without removing it.
