disadvantages of taller tires ?
I've been looking for new wheels and tires for a couple months now, I was wanting to go with taller (28") tires in the back so I can get a little better gas mileage. I think I settled on either 15" Weld Pro Star XP's or Drag Lite XP's with 275/60 Nitto DR's on the back. These are supposed to be exactly 28" tall. Just wondering what (if any) the disadvantages of a taller tire will be. If it matters, I get horrible traction right now with 245/50 BFG G-Force T/A's. Thanks...

your final gear ratio will be higher (taller) so you'll get your higher gas mileage, but you're going to lose a little acceleration depending on how big you go.
as far as handling is concerned i'm not to sure about the rear. but i know if you put larger tires in the front, your turning won't be as quick, as in responsive.

Also, if anyone has pictures (preferably a t/a) with 28" tall tires, could you please post them? I know this probabaly belongs in appearance section, but I already started this message. thanks...

28" tires are only good for drag racing....

Seriously... a 28" tire will look like something for a 4x4 off-road truck. They will lift your car 1.25" more off the ground. They will force the tires 1.25" more up into the wheelwells. They will make your 4.10's feel like 3.73's - OK, slightly better gas mileage. They will fill up the rear wheel well to the point that they are very close to rubbing on the lower edges of the wheel opening..... maybe the Camaro's are roomier, but I doubt it.....

I get enough tire growth at 125+MPH trap speeds that they were hitting the front/sheet metal edges of the wheel opening.... I had to move the axle back 1/4" and trim the leading edge of the rubber bumper cover at the bottom.
