dis for lt1?

A friend of mine told me about a guy who converted his lt1 corvette to use ls1 coil packs and kept the optispark to act as a crank trigger only. any ifo and power gain would be nice. anyone herd of this?

I've been running 8 LS1 coils in direct fire mode for almost 4 years. Opti high and low res pulses (cam and crank position) to a MoTeC M48Pro, MoTeC IEX 8-channel ignition driver to 8 LS1 coils. George Baxter used the same setup on his 1,125HP, 9.04-second 30th SS convertible (3,900# race weight).

LS1 coils

The Bailey LTCC accomplishes pretty much the same thing for about 1/5th of what the MoTeC setup costs.

Delteq also has a very good system that does away with the optispark.

As you will find out, ignition upgrades dont gain much power on most engines. You will need it when you use FI or serious nitrous.

The Stage 1 (currently available) Delteq does NOT eliminate the Opti. Only the Stage 2 will eliminate the Opti, and that is not ready for production/not available yet. And the Delteq is a 4-coil, "lost spark" setup using the Northstar hardware, not the LS1 coils.

Yeah so, with the trouble guys are having with the LTCC I would with the delteq. Oh yeah, I did! Clean install, it is a simple plug in and turn the key. No wires to cut and then reconnect. No, brackets to make and it will work with cars that have TC.You didn't have to hunt parts down. when the time comes I can up grade to stage II. Also, the delteq stage II will work with the LTCC set up.

how much did it cost you when it was all said and done?
plus will i have to modify my opticrap. my car has tc so that is also good news. the reason why i am so interested is not for power gains if there r any, but because my opti has gone south and i am looking for a better solution.
thanks again

BLUE95ZZ,

For our complete kit to run our Opti-Direct system, the price is $667.25. This includes EVERYTHING you need to run the Cadillac Northstar 4-coil DIS ignition. (i.e. custom spark plug wires, new coils, new ignition module, our Opti Box, plug-and-play harness (no modifications to stock harness), brackets, fasteners. stickers, etc.)

We also offer a "bare bones" kit for $347 that is designed for people who want to source their own coilpack and make their own ignition wires. Coilpacks typically go for between $100-$225 at junkyards.

Sorry I haven't been around in a while guys. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to call us!

Just out of curiousity what kind of problems are people having? I have an LTCC setup on my car and am making over 700 rwhp without a problem.
