i suggest sanding it down with a fine grit sand paper and having a 2nd pair of hands will help out too. i also cut an inch or more off the end of mine but some people have had problems with the end of the dipstick catching the windage tray and breaking off.. not me. you can do the same but it is at your own risk.

When I put my LTs in, I think the dipstick was the worst part. I tried, and got it in like an inch, then it wouldn't go any more. I lubed it up a little with engine oil, and let it sit a minute, and it went another inch or two. I used vice grips and grabbed the mounting bracket on the stick, and pulled and twisted, and everything, but it went in all the way, and I was able to bolt it back in. It is good now.

it took me like 3 minutes to sand it down then I used some silicone and it slide right in with no problems. I also had a guy underneath the car guiding it in as I pushed from the top. Took like 30 secs to get it back in!!

If the tube is out of round or bent in any way, it will hinder installation. It also needs to go in perfectly straight. That is probably why it takes some people 30 seconds and others an hour or more.

i put mine in the freezer for a couple of hours and had another person helping me guide it in, but it still took about 5 mins to get it seated all the way down.
