Dipstick - AS&M Header install

Hey everyone,
since I'm getting my AS&M headers installed shortly I am trying to get everything together I need for the install.
Do I need a new Dipstick housing or can I re-use the old one ? I'm having the headers installed by a shop and they told me it shouldn't be a problem using the old one but if I remember correctly I read somewhere on here that you would need a new one. What are the odds that my old one will break ??
What else do I need to look out for ?

You can use your old one, but you might want to save some trouble and just get a bendy dipstick. Lokar makes a nice one.

thanks for your reply, do you know if the dipstick has to be bent much or is it just a slight bent ?

Re: Dipstick - AS&M Header install

i have done headers on two different cars, and i reused the stock one of both of them. the tube is easy to bend (just make sure you dont crimp it) and only has to be bent a little.

note: i have never installed as&m headers, the ones i did were hooker lt's and slp shorties. i dont know if it would need to be bent more for the as&m's or not

Re: Dipstick - AS&M Header install

Get the Lokar, It's a NICE piece and slides right in for a total install time of about 5 minutes, including taking the header bolt out and tightening the dipstick down with the new one.

Re: Dipstick - AS&M Header install

Take it out completely and then put it back in before you do your final bolting of the passenger header. Get the header in place and ready, try and brace it somewhere and put the dipstick back in.

How did you do that??? I tried that and couldn't get the Lokar dipstick to sit right.

I somehow creatively twisty tied it to where it wasnt touching the header and just kinda rested in place....
