Re: dip stick tube

it slides in and out but you need some vice grips or something because you have to wiggle it and pull up

Get under the car and get a good grip on it with vice grips, then have somebody do the same thing from the top, just put some muscle into it and wiggle up, just be careful not to break or crush it. It's in threr pretty good but mine slipped right out and in once i got it going.

Re: dip stick tube

Oh and good luck getting it back in. It may only be with the AS&M's, but I probably spent two and a half hours bending that damned thing to get it to slide back in. I also cut off about an inch and a half from the bottom of the tube too. Just make sure the bottom part that slides in isnt kinked or bent at all or else it won't go back in.

Re: dip stick tube

well i got it out a tiny bit. like 1/4 inch below the lip i can see now. i can move it back and forth but damn wtf. is it just a bit under that lip where it goes into the block that holds it in tight? do u need 500 pounds of force to get it out?
i almost want to cut if off a bit and then get my manifold out of the way and then i can really get in there and get it out.

Re: dip stick tube

I guess I was just lucky I just pulled and wiggled as hard as I could and it popped right out, when I put it back I just had someone hold it steady and I got the whole thing back in by myself, from under the car. Didn't seem to hard, just use a litte force.

Re: dip stick tube

I've stuck the vise grips on there, and then hit the vise grips with a small hammer. Seems to jar it loose pretty easy.

Re: dip stick tube

thanks for all the help guys i finally got it. once i could see the lip i put a flat head screw driver under the lip and beat up on it with a hammer and it pushed it out. once the tube came out about 1 inch it came out pretty easy.
and now i have both my stock manifolds out of the car.
im so happy those are out. i think getting those stock manifolds out is the hardest thing to do on that car.
