Its not too bad. If I recall correctly you just have to take off the water pump and then you can get to it. You might have to take off the throttle body, not sure if you do or not. It has been a few years since i changed mine.

I had a small drip from the pump and figured i would replace the opti at the same time. It took about 3 hours to do and i did plug wires also. I also had 3 hours running to buy parts that were frozen on or just needed replaced since it was apart. My supercharger made it a little more compliated as well.

If you are well-versed or moderately versed with working on your car yourself it shouldn't be too bad. A little cautious approach the first time and it should take you about 5-6 hours (with breaks here and there). None of the bolts are real bitches like when you remove the bell-housing on a transmission.

Once you've done it once, it becomes a 2-3 hour job between draining and refilling the radiator (don't want that stuff to drip on you). It's not that hard. Just make sure you have a harmonic balancer puller.

that is quite plausible as well. How many times have you done it?

It's not all that hard. On the 96, just make sure you get the Opti indexed to the cam right. I done it on my 94 and my 95.....got it down to a science I've done it so many times. i think it took me about 4 hours the first time I did it, now it takes right around an hour.
