I really haven't seen any good numbers from XE cams besides dyno #'s. Even the 305 seems to be a better cam. jmho though
There's to many consistancy factors to make this statement hold any truth. No 2 cars are exactly the same. You could have a "better" running motor from the get go, while your buddy got a monday motor or somethin. Just because your car does this, and anothers does that makes no since. I ran the 230/236 on my stock short block and made 397 RWHP through shorties and mail order tuning. My car ran 11.90's all day @117+ mph. The bad thing was, I never ran better than a 1.89 60". Go to a LS-1 cam chart and check the lobes out. About the weakest you can get is an XE. Why? Because they are better. Who wouldn't want added vacum for better braking and idling, more low-end power, and a better, more usable power band over a CC designed lobe? You also have to take into consideration LSA, overlap, and valve timing events before you start comapring 2 cars with xxx cam.

I talked to brent at TEA thursday about this actually. I am doing a build up with their heads and 230/236 cam. He said that the 306 looses alot of low-midrange power because of the wide lobe seperation. he says its more of a nitrous cam, and the nitrous makes up for the lack of low end. With that said I/we deceided to go with the 230/236 cam. With a few bolt ons, he said 11's shouldn't be a problem. He does this for a living so I am inclinded to take his opinion seriously. Hope this helps some.

rofl, i love when all you people claim that CC306 doesnt have low end power or that XE's are some much more supperior to CC306.

No one says the 230/236 is superior, just a little more up to date. Both cams actaully make about the same power due to them both having the same intake duration and both of them are usaully on a 112 LSA. In turn one cam wouldn't really make much peak power over the other. To many people get caught up in peak numbers and don't look at the area under the curve. From 2500-5000 rpm's is where you win races. Not that the 306 dosen't have enough power to pull itself around, but it dosen't make as much as a XE 230. If you want the best of both worlds, get a XE 230/242. I had one of these ground for a friend of mine. It's a nice street cam, but comes on hard when he sprays it. You wouldn't believe the sound either.

I've had both the CC306 and now my current 230/236 - but on a 110lsa. The 306 made a lot less torque than the EX down low ~ and across the rest of the powerband, but both peak numbers are about the same. But the CC306 did hold it's peak power a couple hundred RPM higher and I've actually run a better ET at the track w/ the 306 than I have yet w/ the EX cam. Comparably, the 306 got me a 12.02@115mph, while the EX was a 12.14@114mph. Although now I have a rollbar and and few other items adding a little weight to the car.

But now I get to hit the track sometime this winter to go for a new best.

The 230/236 grinds are available w/ as high a lift as .622/.624, just a little more than the 227/233 . I opted for the .598/.608 lift grind cam.
