Difference in Blocks

I understand they changed the SBC block in 87, however, what all block are compatible with the LT1 heads, intake, etc? Is it any block after 87 or what? Thanks in advance, I searched but came up with limited info.

The short answer is that the LT1 heads and intake can only be used with an LT1 block. You could modify LT1 heads to work with a "conventional" small block, but there would be little point to that.
