A friend of mine told me that the 93 LT1s are not as good as the 94 and up LT1s. He said the computer is ****tier and has 10 less horsepower. Can someone tell me if this is true. Is a 93 LT1 good to mod, what do I have to worry about, computer, etc.

 

there is NO diff in horsepower in 93-94. Now in 96 it went up 10 horses. The diff in 93 was that it used air density instead of MAF, it doesnt have the electronic tranny, and a few other minor changes.

 

The biggest difference between 93's and 94's is that 93's are Speed Density while 94's are Mass Air.

 

Having one of each I can tell you there's really no huge difference in stock performance or potential for modding.

Thanks guys for your responses. What is th difference between the MAF, and the Speed Density? And is there anything different with te computers I'd have to worry about. I plan on building a heavier modded engine, is anything gona be effected?

 

One thing I'm surprised no one mentioned is the 93's are batch fire injection, where the 94+ are sequential injection.

 

if i rember right the 93's use a "chip" where the 94's have the computer that you get tuned ( i could be completley wrong though) im just trying to rember what my friend had done to his 93.
