Dies when MAF is plugged in

we did an engine swap and put a new LT1 in my friends car, its bored over a little and also has a pretty aggressive Lunati cam(sorry, don't know specs) and it idles pretty roughanyway. HOWEVER...for some reason it runs better with the MAF unplugged...and we tried my MAF as well so that shouldn't be a problem. I have datamaster hooked up to it and its not throwing a MAF code or anything...any ideas?

sounds like a problem. Did you clean the MAF with anything before you put it in?

you're going to need a tune to keep the pcm from going nuts. is the pcm tuned yet? you're just forcing it into speed density mode by unhooking the maf, so the pcm is ignoring the maf tables, which are tuned for a stock car.
