Dies after idling at 2k

I drove my car to work this cold morning (at work now) and i noticed that it was idling high whenever I put the clutch in or put the gearbox in neutral, it would always be above 1500 and below 2000 while I was rolling, but once I came to a stop the idle would become normal, I thought that it was just because it was a cold start, but when i go to park the 'bird, and i actually stop, the idle went down to normal for a about 5 seconds and then proceeded to die on me... I had no time to look anywhere yet, possibly on my lunch.

Also, when i tap or step on the throttle, it is like it chokes or hesitates then jumps up, and back down to the abnormal idle RPM.

What could be the problem?

usually they get carboned up and get stuck, might as well try and clean it with some carb solv and try it out. a new one is about 60 bucks so this may save ya some money.
