Ok with all the other issues Ive had and I had it runninig today going great. I go to leave and its sputtering bad . Well I turned up my regulator 1/2 turn so I thought I was rich. I came back(pushed cuz it died) and checked and I was getting 38 psi running 42 on prime. I turn it back down and leave and it dies again , this time futher up the road and on a busy highway and dark! I got it out the way and looked at the fuel pressure and it was at 20! I got it back home somehow and its still at 20 psi.
Now I just replaced the pump and regulator with Holley parts and everything was cool till I turned that screw today! This is the 4th pump ive had in it in 2 months! What am I doing wrong? I have a new filter and strainer. What can it be? Also the pump has been whining almost since I got it. Usually after a minute or more of running it starts a nice high pitch whine

ok Im doing some testing on it. Im only getting about 12 or so on the vacumn gauge at idle which is around 700-750.Im also only getting around 18-20 psi of fuel at idle and around 22 on prime. I checked voltage on the wire going to the pump and its getting 13.80 running.
Is it my pump again? if so what am I doing wrong? Why do they keep going out?

When you mention the wining off your fuel pump, there is nothing that makes sense to me on that. It is bad for the fuel pump if you run on E all the time, burns up the pump.
I had a similar problem myself in my old '88 TPI Camaro. Once the tank was out, I found out I was losing pressure because a rubber hose between the pump and the lines was cracked, so basically it was spitting it right back out into the tank. Have you check this or replaced this at all? If not, maybe you have a crack in your lines inside your tank. It would be obvious that if it was leaking outside you would smell it.
I do not see how you keep burning out your pumps. I installed a Holley high volume fuel pump in mine. The first day it was up and running, it suddenly quit. First thing that struck my mind was that it wanted more power. I remembered where the fuse was and it turned out that it was blown, replaced with larger fuse and never had the same problem again.
Maybe these things can help you get an idea of what could be wrong....

I had about 4 gallons in it and added about 6 more to it right after I got the tank back up then took it for a fill up. Im sitting here thinking I might just be running outta fuel ! I can hear something bubbling after I shut it off. It was running really bad for 2 weeks or so but I never went anywhere. I just had it running in the front yard and took it out for about 100 miles and thats it.
I freaking ran out of gas! I thought no gas would mean no pressure! I got under it and knocked on the tank and heard that ding ding ding and take a ride on the bike with a 5 gallon tank up to the store .I came back looking like an idiot but dammit its running now! Now Im going to work and might shoot myself in the head in the bathroom for being an idiot.
I need to get that gauge going
