OK I found where it goes. It's easy once you know what to look for and I can feel the broken plastic. I found a new oil pressure sender unit at Autozone for $22. I'm going down there in a few minutes to pick it up. I should be able to figure the rest out but I'll keep you updated. Thanks again guys for all your help!

YEAH! THat's what it was. The oil pressure sender unit. Now there are no more leaks! The only problem is that my oil pressure gauge still doesn't work! Any ideas of what to check?

Make sure that the wire connectors are seated real good. That, or the new one could possibly be faulty.

A bit off topic, but my car has both of those. The one near the oil filter and the one on the top of the block. Explain that. hmm...

I would explain it as the oil pressure sensor behind the intake manifold and the oil level sensor on the side of the oil pan (which is not the sensor this thread is referring to).

Unless someone added another sensor there would not be two oil pressure sensors. There is no factory wiring to support two pressure sensors.

You guys have to remember that this sensor switched its location based on model years. A 93 car has so many different small things that people do not notice between later models.

The 93 oil pressure sensor that this thread is talking about is located above the oil filter on later model cars it is located at the rear of intake. On a 93 model there is a plug at the rear of the intake instead of the sensor and vise versa just depending on the year.

As for having both you are likely just mistaking what you are seeing.

hmmm... I just drove around for about 30 minutes and it ran fine, no more leaks but the pressure gauge still doesn't work. I'll re-check the connection to the oil pressure sender unit again after it cools down but is there anything else you would recommend checking?

Offhand, just thinking about it I would think that if it was working before the old one was broken, and you replaced it and the pressure gauge no longer works, that it would be either the connection or a faulty new sender. It's not unheard of for something to be bad from the start.

Yeah, that would make sense, but mine has the one above the oil filter in the block, AND the one on the top of the block, behind the manifold. I have pictures, but I don't have the camera here. Doesn't make sense to me, but BOTH are in the block.

Are the 4th gens still using the oil pressure/Fuel Pump switch. This was used on 3rd gens to let the car start if the fuel pump relay went bad. It would switch on the fuel pump when it read 4psi of oil pressure.

No. There is only one wire to the sensor (at least on 1995-up). The sensor might be capable of doing it, since I think it has three terminals, but without the wiring in the harness, there is no way to support the function.

Ok. The later 89+ I think, used 2 or 3 wires on that one sensor.
The other guy's car might have an extra sender for an extra gauge at one time installed by a previous owner maybe.

Hate bringing back posts from the dead, but so everyone doesn't think I'm crazy, here are pics of my engine. One is of the back of the block, the other is aiming right above the oil filter. It has both. Any explanations?

Pay no attention to the massive oil leak.

So whats the deal? There is a wire going to the one on the block, and there WAS a wire going to the one near the filter but I broke it doing the headers.
