did my heater bypass yesterday, and have some questions

ok, i bought a piece to metal tube. the size was 3/8". it was kinda small, but fit right in with no prob what so ever. i tighten my clamp really tight, hopefully it does not leak. i took off the hoses from my heater core, but do i have to plug the holes what originally was covered by the hose?? where can i buy such a plug?? thanks for reading....

Since the heater hoses are 5/8" and 3/4" size[ID]
I wouldn't use a 3/8" coupler for that.. get a 5/8 x 3/4 reducer... [I am assuming you are talking about heater hoses here, not the 'TB bypass' mod?]
And no, you don't have to 'plug' the places where you removed hoses[in either case]

i tried to look for that, but home depot dont have them. yes it is the two hoses that stick in the heater core. so do you think coolant can leak from 3/8" even though i tightened it really hard?? thanks

now

Not to say this will happen to u or that what i was told is correct but...when i had my LT! capric the heater core was leaking. So i did what u did but shortly after the head gasket went out (and wife drove it 25+ miles with the temp gauge peged )
A friend told me that half the problem was from the heater core !
because the core3 helped to cool down the car...\
but like i said i dont know how much truth is in that....

why not just get a new heater core then?...its not like youll get any performance gain by bypassing the heater core, unlike bypassing the throttle body which has no negative effect and claims horsepower gain.

i heard bypassing the heater will not do any harm to my car?? http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...threadid=82776

it's summer and i thought i dont need the heater. so why spend $100+ for a heater core, when i'm in a tight budget, and i dont need the heater right now. it's never cold enough in so cal to use the heater. what should i do??

Go to an auto parts store, not home depot. They will have a kit with a connector & clamps designed to do exactly what you are trying to do.
