Did i spin a bearing?

Ive got about 2000 miles on my motor since i did a cam and some very minor headwork (including a valvejob).

well this weekend i checked the oil and i thought i saw some glimmer in the sunlight but wasnt sure so i drained the oil. it doesnt look good. its saturated with tiny gold particles.

When i did the cam swap, i was having trouble with my timing set and im pretty sure i put the thrust bearing through some abuse (yea yea, lesson learned). Some friends have told me that bearing could be reseting itself or it could also be my new valve guides wearing in. I dont think either of those would cause this much.

there are no chunks, just a glimmering and a few small flakes.

I cut the oil filter up and found nothing other than the [glimmering] oil in the very bottom

should i try some more oil and see what happens or should i just get working on dropping the motor out?

If your oil psi is good there's no reason to sweat yet. Just change the oil.

try changing the oil and run it for a bit to flush everything out. run for a day and change oil again (DONT beat on it) if it is just from breaking in it should be fine after this. if not then you are looking at a rebuild. I wouldnt jump to one extreme over some flakes in the oil. that is the oils job is to collect contaminates and bring them to the filter. if the filter is clean i'm assuming your engine is fine.
