did i mess up my optispark timing

Hello I just the opti replacement on my 95 lt1 and now it wont start, I sounds like the timing is way off because I know its firing because it kind of backfires but only it blows air through the throttle body and not the normal Pop sound. When I put it in I made sure it was on the right slot and seated it by hand then tightened bolts as far as I could tell. Did I do this wrong because I didn’t do the cylinder #1 at TDC method. I also broke the opti wiring harness pretty good so im not sure if that’s the problem because at first it wouldn’t even fire but now it dose, I just had to press it in more. I already ordered a new one. Thanks for the help guys

Hard to say. You might have to take it off and check the alignment to the cam dowel.

Put some marks with black marker on the timing cover where to dowel pin is, and mark the opti where to dowel slot is and just line up those marks since its hard to see in there. Make sure you have the plug wires ordered correctly.

ok i am pretty sure its just that harness because its pretty messed up and it got a little better when i played with it and after takeing theopti off and reinstalling it looked like everything i had was right. Im am pretty quick at getting everything torn down, took me 20 min from start to having everything in my hands and plug wires labeled.
