I was referring to the lowest end of the powerband as to where the loss would be.

*cough* a stall converter would eliminate that problem *cough*

autos

Actually if I didn't enjoy banging the gears, I'd probably be in an auto by now for the sake of *ahem* better et's. Admittedly, you can't beat a nice high stall at the track.

I give up!!! You win!!!!!!

But I'll still take my auto.

On the backpressure subject.....It cracks me up how people always talk about cut outs or any other form of freeing up your exhaust hurts your tourqe. Look at dyno sheets of when people dyno with a cut out open and closed.....they pick up hp AND tourqe when the cut out is open....they dont pick up hp and lose tourqe. A buddy of mine that works at a shop with a dyno put his car on the dyno one day to dyno the car with the cat back hooked up and then un hooked the exhaust to dyno it open header. He picked up tons of hp AND tourqe when he dyno'd open header.

Might be setting off the Knock Sensor with a little extra vibration or noise from the off road pipe.

I think you won't lose any TQ or HP with a ORP, no cats etc... But the HP and torque gains are usually on the top-end of the RPM range. And since your car starts pulling better on the top-end, you feel like you have lost some of your low-end I guess. So I think it is pretty much psychological. I could be wrong though, correct me if so.

When I had my car dynoed, I did the first run with the cats on and did 278 rwhp and 313 ft/lbs vs. what is in the sig. Peak #s dont tell you everything though. Along the way there were points where I had 11rwhp gains at lower rpms and also had mroe torque. This was on a basically stock car too. Less backpressure the better is my opinion. Plus the cats weigh a lot more too!!

LISTEN LITTLE PEOPLE!!! Heh, you don't LOSE torque. Does ANYONE know what Horsepower is? It's like torquexrpm/somenumber

So if you really think about it, hp doesnt exist

you dont lose torque, ya move it, ok?
