Re: Did I install the wrong cam for the Street??

I received responses from three of the power tuners Ed Wright, PCM, and Madz28. Unsure which one I should use. Madz is the most reasonable, and Ed Wright and PCM are similiar in pricing, but double the money??? I'm partial to Ed Wight because he did an awesome job with the tuning of my stock cam. Now I just want the best tune for the street with this cc305??
Appreciate any advice?

I've had multiple programs with Ed and have been very happy. Also, if your car has already been tuned with Ed, a retune should only be $150...At least only my first tune was full price, after that it was only a retune price, so check that out!

Step #1. Turn the fuel pressure back to stock
Step #2. Get headers, y-pipe, catback
Step #3. Get a tune

And you put in new valve springs and rockers too with the cam right?

Re: Did I install the wrong cam for the Street??

All you need is a tune from any of those 3 guys, headers, catback and CAI(cold air induction) if you don't have it already.

That cam is being seriously starved for air, and your top end will stink until you can get more air to and from the engine.

It's a midrange cam that is mildly aggressive for the street. A good choice.

Thats great advice!! I have installed new comp valve springs with the cam.
I think I'll follow your three steps. Thanks

And if it helps at all, I was running stock injectors with 350rwhp on the stock fuel pressure without any problems, so your stock injectors should be fine...

Yea I'll put the pressure back to stock. It's an easy adjustment. Thanks

Re: Did I install the wrong cam for the Street??

Sounds like the same thing I had on my other '94 when I was driving it around. First question, do you have better springs on it? I had a problem with my springs not holding the cam over 5000 so it felt more stockish. I changed the opti (good idea on a higher mileage motor), got a tune, some hooker shorties and bolted it all back together...nice gain! I got the madz28 tune and it was dead on ***** accurate. I wish I stepped up to 1 3/4 shorties or mids then, and wished I ported the intake too. But with the stock 24# injectors, the car still ran great. The TB didn't make a difference too, I wouldn't worry about it too much if you already have a CAI and descreened maf unless you plan on spending alot of time over 6000 RPM.

BTW with the madz28 tune I got almost 400 miles per tank on the interstate with the tops out through an M6 and 1 5/8 shorties.

Thanks for your opinion. I think a 94 is a MAF, not a speed density set up, like my 93. I was under the impression that speed density was actually better for hot rodding, because you were not restricted by the air intake through the mass air flow sensor. Maybe thats a myth, because I think the computer is going to have to be spot on to get the 93 speed density set up to run well. I need to contact Ed Wright and get things rolling, but I work alot through the holidays, so it may be January. I'm not really concerned with fuel milage, because this is not my daily driver, its more of a weekend stomper. I went to your web site, thats a nice car too. Its interesting that you have a back up camaro for daily driving. I have an 88 thats very clean that I have for backup.

I have made other cam swaps on other cars and they all ran better and with each new add on they continued to improve.
Will this car have a mid-range pull with headers, 30 lbs injectors and a custom chip???
Dont do it man, Ed wright is the man when it comes to tuning these cars. i agree with headers and the TB i believe is bs for Ed makes 508rwhp with an auto and he has a 42mm TB.

You also might want to talk to Lloyd Elliot at eportworks.com and see about some ported heads to REALLY makes that cam come alive.
