Did an auto to manual tranny swap, now probs! Help!

Hi Guys,

I recently turned my automatic 1995 Z28 Vert into a 6 speed with a T-56. I've noticed that the clutch is way to low and sometimes I have trouble shifting, like if it doesn't really clutch completely. I have to put the clutch pedal all the way to the floor and It's getting a little annoying to drive.

Any ideas why this might be happening? I installed a new OEM clutch with the plate and a new pump...

You may need to space the master cylinder away from the firewall. A stock T-56 has a doubler tack welded to the firewall. The hole for the master goes through the doubler and firewall. The doubler adds strength to the firewall and moves the master closer to the clutch pedal. Moving the master closer to the clutch pedal should raise the pedal, and help disengage the clutch completely.

On my T-56 conversion the clutch pedal was low. My clutch would disengage but I didn't like that the clutch engaged so close to the floor. I never fixed mine since it was working ok. I noticed the doubler at a junk yard after I got rid of the T-56. Even though I never tried it I think it would have fixed my problem.

Or buy a McLeod adjustable master.
