There are TSBs about DexCool. The dealers are evening flushing and putting in the green coolant I switched to DexCool years ago when I rebuilt my engine (old set up), then quickly switched back to the green coolant after a flush. I have used it ever since. My 2001 Acura Integra GS-R came with the green coolant... looked fine after 100,000 miles. Flushed it a few months ago and used green coolant again.

Sorry I wasted your time. I won't make that mistake again.

I'm so not even trying to question your knowledge about the fact....but im just going on what this post has made me realize. There is not one case of the sludge build up in the case of green coolent. There is with the DEX... maybe your one of the lucky ones or maybe you did something different or its just my luck....but i have had the sludge....gone without heat in the car...so im going green after my flush...
sorry if i came off like a smart @$$ didnt mean to...just trying to keep it fun
No green sludge?! Wow... apparently you're ignoring over 60 years of data.
Coolant with excessive contaimination will ALWAYS sludge.
Typically this happens in small passengaes with little coolant flow. In traditional V8's this usually happened in the heater core and resulted in having to flush or replace the core.
The LT1's coolant design does not have this problem as the heater core gets full-pump pressure to keep it clear. In fact, the pump design was selected to ensure the heater core gets enough flow at idle to keep the core clear.
Long-life Truck coolants have increased silicate in their green stuff to increease service life, but this coolant is known to cause problems in passenger cars and light trucks due to the increased silicate and smaller passages. Large fleet trucks have coolant systems designed to avoid sludge in the green stuff becasue it is a KNOWN PROBLEM.

ok ok so maybe i was being a little to sarcastic...lol I didnt mean to say that i havent seen the green stuff sludge up, but with regular maint. I have never seen it...there that came out a lot better. And when i said that... i was meaning there hasnt been one case of green slude build up with the people that have posted on THIS thread as far as F-body's go ....whoops...lol

There appears to be a misconception that DexCool is the only extended life anti-freeze available. It's not. Several manufacturers offer their own versions. In addition, Prestone offers a "green" 5/150,000 non-DexCool anti-freeze. Search Dexcool controversy on Google and form your own, educated opinion. As everyone has stated, no matter what you use you have to keep your system in good working order and follow the recommended maintenance intervals.

just wondering....where did you find this info at?
Re: DEX-cool v.s. GREEN STUFF- EVERYONE
from personal experience, my original 305tpi had 156,000 on it when I ripped it out, during the disassembly I noticed serious pitting in the t-stat housing and intake, these pieces are odviously aluminum. the car had only ran the green stuff up to that point and I didnt notice any sludge build up. I think it would be a good idea that if your going to have coolant in contact with aluminum it shouldnt have properties that tend to eat away the aluminum. I've been running Dex for 4-5 years and didnt notice any pitting or sludge when I pulled and rebuilt it in the spring.
